The Deputy Prime Minister, the Rt Hon John Prescott MP, visited the Shipwreck Heritage Centre in August to officially open the Derbyshire exhibition. The Derbyshire was the largest British merchant vessel lost at seas and the DPM, when in opposition, supported the Derbyshire Families Association in their fight to discover why the Derbyshire was lost. As Secretary of State for Transport & the Environment he insisted on having the original investigation re-opened.
